Pop Art: An International Perspective
Published in Paperback by Rizzoli (February, 1992)
Authors: Marco Livingstone, Royal Academy Of Arts, and Dan Cameron
Average review score:

An excellent book about a very important movement
Pop Art is arguably one of the three most influential developments in 20th century art (along with Picasso and Cubism, and Duchamp and DADA.) This is because these movements changed not only what is popular in art, but the very essence of what art IS and what can be accepted as such. This book gives a reasonably comprehensive history of Pop, with a definite focus on its beginnings in Britain and America. Individuals like Johns, Hamilton, Warhol, and Lichtenstein are obviously at the forefront, but this book gives consideration to the ripples of the Pop movement that were felt all over Europe during the 1960's. Transient, glossy, tacky...of coure! But Pop changed how we view the world, our consumerist culture, and ourselves! An excellent book--this is a must for any 20th century art enthusiast!

Popcorn: Hollywood Stories

A hilarious behind-the-scenes romp through Hollywood
OK, up front, I'm a big fan of Julia Cameron. So when I heard she had a new book, I went out and bought it. I was totally opposed to buying Cameron's fiction at first, because I really am a huge fan of her creativity books. But then, I thought, why not support the artist? I couldn't be happier with my decision. While very different from her other books (The Artist's Way, duh!), this book is hilarious! It's a thinly veiled attack on all the bad acting and bad behaviors of Hollywood's "finest." Some of her stories had me laughing so hard that even my husband began looking at me funny. Face it, Julia Cameron not only knows how to teach writing, she can do it pretty damn well herself.

Private Worlds of Julia Redfern
Published in Paperback by Viking Press (April, 1990)
Author: Eleanor Cameron
Average review score:

One of the best books in the world!
This book, one of the last written by Eleanor Cameron before her death, is arguably her best. She's an extremely talented writer infusing her books with a wonderful reality and subtlety that make them hard to forget. While her Mushroom Planet books are the most acclaimed, her Julia Redfern series, especially A Room Made of Windows and The Private Worlds of Julia Redfern are examples of her strongest writing. She has been compared to Virginia Woolf stylistically, but is, in my opion, a much clearer writer. An especially wonderful book for any aspiring writers.

Release the Potential: A Practical Guide to Myofascial Release for Horse & Rider
Published in Hardcover by Half Halt Pr (November, 2000)
Authors: Doris Kay Halstead and Carrie Cameron
Average review score:

A comprehensive tool for equine bodyworkers and riders
Finally! A book that approaches the work of myofascial release with horses in a comprehensive and easy to understand manner. As an equine body worker, my library is full of resource books for understanding the equine anatomy and techniques of massage, accupressure and help for the horse. This one puts them all to shame.

The diagrams of horse anatomy and photographs of specific horses are some of the best in specifically pinpointing areas of a horse with issues of body misalignment. To follow along with the pictures, there is language that speaks to the professional who is versed in anatomy and body work and to the rider who is interested in learning more about observing their horse and helping them through myofacial release techniques. The physical therapy background of the authors shines through as they approach the connection of rider to horse. Showing exercises that the rider can use to improve themselves while improving upon the pattern of movement for the horse.

There are very few books out there in the field of bodywork for horse and rider that will be able to reach people and make a difference for them and their horses like this one. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who cares about their horse.
